Katie's Story

I worked for years as a school psychologist and behavior analyst in an educational setting. I supported children of all ages in making behavior change, as well as teachers and parents in modifying their own behavior in order to positively impact learning and behavior in their students and children.  

 

In the meantime, my personal life was filled with passion for health and wellness, particularly for plant-based nutrition and mindfulness/stress reduction. As someone who struggled with staying ahead of the curve in balancing stress and anxiety, I was always searching for tools that could help me reach my own optimal health.  Further, the more I learned about the benefits of a whole food, plant based diet as well as other lifestyle modifications in preventing and reversing disease, I wanted to be able to share this knowledge. When I discovered I could combine my background with my passion to support others to improve their quality of life and regain a sense of wellbeing, health and wellness coaching was a no brainer!

During my health coach training, I was fortunate to be able to go through the health coaching process myself. I experienced firsthand the benefits of being guided by a coach through a process of behavior change based on my own goals and what was important to me. I truly believe in the effectiveness of health coaching for helping people make significant, meaningful changes in their lives, and knowing that I can be part of that change in someone else’s life is both inspiring and rewarding.

Katie's Qualifications

Katie is a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) and received her certificate in Health Coaching from the Vanderbilt Health Coaching Certificate Program. She has a Masters Degree in Psychology and Specialist Degree in School Psychological Services from Central Michigan University. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and received her Post-Graduate Certificate in Behavior Analysis from Penn State University. Katherine has a Certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from the T.Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies and eCornell. Katherine also holds a Lifestyle Medicine Coach Certificate from the American College of Lifestyle Medicine/Wellcoaches.
